Overview
A small garden that lives on your desktop
Daily Botanica is a free idle plant game that runs alongside everything else you do on your computer. Instead of keeping the game open in a large window, your plants sit directly on the desktop, growing quietly while you work, study, browse, or play something else.
You begin with a seed and an empty pot. Give the plant water, check in on it from time to time, and watch it move through each stage of its growth. Caring for a plant helps it grow faster, but Daily Botanica is designed to be patient. You do not need to leave it open all day or follow a strict schedule. Your garden continues to make progress while you are away.
Grow, harvest, and collect
Every seed grows into one of many different species. Some are small and familiar; others are strange fantasy plants with their own habitats, appearances, and little reactions.
Once a plant reaches full bloom, you can harvest it and add it to your collection. You can keep your favourites on the desktop, work toward discovering every species, or continue planting new seeds to see what grows next. Plants can also appear in different variants, giving you another reason to return to species you have already found.
Your collection is recorded in the Herbarium, where you can look back through the plants you have discovered and learn more about them.
A garden you can arrange yourself
Plants are not confined to a fixed corner of the screen. You can move and resize them, place several around the desktop, and choose which ones you want to keep visible.
New growing spaces, pots, watering cans, and other rewards become available as your garden develops. The Pot Atelier lets you change the appearance of your pots, while harvested plants can remain on the desktop as part of your setup.
When you want a completely clear workspace, you can lock the plants so your clicks pass through them, hide the Botanica button, or close the main interface without shutting down the garden. Daily Botanica can stay in the system tray and return whenever you need it. An optional always-on-top setting is also available for people who want their plants to remain visible above other windows.
More than something to watch
You can water and pet your growing plants, but some species respond to less obvious forms of attention. Their native habitats introduce small interactions to discover, often based on how you use your computer or move around the plant.
These are meant to feel like little surprises rather than a list of chores. A plant might react to a certain gesture, enjoy quiet company, or respond to something happening around it. Learning what each species likes is part of filling out your discoveries.
Designed to stay out of the way
Daily Botanica is not meant to compete for your attention. There are no long sessions required and no reason to keep checking it every few minutes. Open the Botanica when you want to plant something, change your setup, or see how your collection is doing. The rest of the time, it can simply live on the desktop.
It works especially well as a small companion during work or study: present enough to notice, but easy to move, hide, or lock whenever you need the space.
